In addition to assisting me during operation, she enjoys setting on top of my amplifier's RF deck watching the birds on the garage roof. For safety purposes I've taught her how to disconnect the amp from the mains and neutralize the B+ using a screwdriver. During the winter time the heat generated by the 3-1000Z valve becomes rather attractive to felines.

 

I'm active every day from an hour before sunrise till two hours or so after sunset on 17 12 and 10 meters. During the night I'm DXing 40 meters or rag chewing on 75. The 6 meter station is always on. I also have 2 meter all mode gear and a 10 element yagi that needs to be installed.

 

17 Meter Operational Tips: The phone band on 17 meters is from 18.110 to 18.165. That is a span of 55KHZ. If you operate with a bandwidth in excess of 3KHZ I WILL tell you about it. There are a number of stations that insist on operating their Hi-Fi SSB crapola occupying 15KHZ of bandwidth. There is no reason beyond ignorance, rudeness and plain stupidity that one station should be using 27% of the available bandplan.

Antennas: The antenna farm is a work in progress. I have a 5/8th wave vertical, ground mounted for 17 meters and an EDZ for 40 meters @ 30 feet AGL The 6 meter Yagi is down for repair / tuning. Time and weather permiting I will have a Hexx beam up.

 

No DXCC nor any other wall paper, however I did manage to work all 7 continents on both 17 and 10 meters in 11 hours and 44 minutes on 12/16/11

 

When I'm not radio active, I am either hunting, fishing, or doing outdoor photography with my lovely girl friend.

As I awoke he vanished, in the mist from which he came.

His words were true. We are not free. We have ourselves to blame.

For even now as tyrants trample each God-given right,

We only watch and tremble, too afraid to fight.

 

If he stood by your bedside, in a dream while you're asleep.

And wondered what remains of our rights he fought to keep.

What would be your answer if he called out from the grave?

Is this still the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave?
