Licensed since 1955, I came back to radio after a 40 year break, in 2007. I operate mostly QRP and CW.
I operate from two QTHs: Atlanta, Georgia and St. Simons Island on the Georgia Coast, I am mostly on St Simons Island, a barrier island six miles off the Georgia coast from Brunswick. On St Simons, I am located on a salt marsh, facing NE towards the Atlantic Ocean. Great ground plane.
On St Simons, I use a K3 and either a 50 year old Hustler vertical placed in the salt marsh, a 40m OCF dipole, or a hex beam at 47 feet. The QTH is on one of Georgia's barrier islands, and I am right on the salt water marsh. If you are an IOTA hunter, this is NA-058, Georgia Islands group. We're showing a picture from my shack window east toward the ocean and Europe.
In Atlanta, I use a K3 to an 80 meter length horizontal loop or G5RV.
I am a proud member of the North Georgia QRP Club and the SE DX Club and mostly operate QRP CW.
Hope to hear you on the bands!
