I was born and raised in San Jose, California. I received my amateur license in 1982 after the trek to the FCC office in San Francisco. My first novice callsign was KA6QCN. My amateur radio hobby started by using mostly CW being a novice with some phone. I currently enjoy the digital modes: PSK31, RTTY, Hellschreiber, Olivia, JT9, etc. Turn on your RSID if you have that option with your software. I also enjoy working 6 meters when the band is open and DXing on the HF bands. I was a BCB and TV DXer in my younger day and still enjoy some FMDX. I am a current member of the Worldwide TV FM DX Association http://www.wtfda.org/ My station includes a Kenwood TS480, Yaesu FT-857, a Cushcraft A3S beam for 10-15-20, an Alpha 6-160 dipole and a M2 6M5X for 6 meters. I was an ARES member for many years in Santa Clara County, California and past ARRL EC locally here in Jackson County, Oregon. I retired from the Santa Clara Fire Dept in California (1995) with 23 years of service and moved to Oregon in 1994.I commuted for about a year.
I retired (again) from ODOT in Sept. 2012 as a Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer for the state of Oregon after 12 years of service. Served four years in the U.S. Navy at NAS Los Alamitos, CA., NAS Moffett Field, CA and VP-46 P3 Orion Squadron at Moffett Field. QSL via direct, bureau, eQSL
