I'm Laura, and I have been a Ham since 1997. I was one of the four ham's in my family. My father, Ralph KW8G, introduced myself and my two sisters Hillary K8OWS, and Holly K8OWT into the hobby. I'm currently waiting for warmer weather to put up a tower, but I have a 80/75 and 40 meter dipole up.

I attend the Great Lakes Maritime Academy in Traverse City and enrolled in the Deck Officer program. So be sure to listen for me when I'm Marine/Maritime Mobile!

Some of the things I love most about the hobby is contesting. Almost every year you will hear me on for the 10 meter contest. I have recently gotten into kit building, and enjoy it when I find the time. I also love being an operator for the special event station N8F/K8F that is located near White Fish Point, Michigan every year, to mark the sinking and the lost hands on the Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald. Some of my other hobbies are camping in my vintage Airstream trailer, Geocaching, Flying, Sailing, Roller Derby and SCUBA diving.I hope to hear you on the air soon.
