John W9LHG, the Left Handed Gorilla, really is Left Handed. He has been a ham since 1954, and Extra since 1971.

Mainly a HF CW op, John enjoys contesting, county hunting, DX, FISTS, QRP, some digital, and playing with wire antennas. Worst of all, John is an Elecraft junkie.

Recent fun included earning DXCC QRP using 5 watts CW, and a wire loop antenna at 20 feet. He is now working on 5 band DXCC.

John grew up in Illinois, but has lived in the Minnesota for the last 30 years. Married since 1960 to Virginia (also left handed), they have three grown daughters - who are not left handed, and seven grandchildren, but only one is left handed.

Off the air, John enjoys jazz, classical music, photography, and vacationing in Wisconsin.
