W5E, celebrating Earth Day from April 20-22 from Earth, Texas. I will handle all QSL requests for this event only. SASE required sent to me, WA5VSK, Bob Boyd,at the address on QRZ.com. We have had lots of fun in the past 3 years even though electrical line noise was S9-10\9 making contacts on our end difficult. We made a trip to Earth in January and idenitfied several culprits generating the noise and notified the local electrical company. They must have corrected some of the problems since it was down to S7 this year. The Bar B Que at the Locker was excellent as always. $10.00 got you a plate of sliced brisket, sausage, and ribs with beans, potato salad and bread. Their beef jerky is some of the best around and while expesive in my opinon ($25.00/lb, $12.50/half pound) it is well worth it to take some home to the XYL. You will have to hide it or lock it up or it will never make it home! The Locker is only open certain Saturdays for lunch and provides take out only. Service is fast, efficient and very polite. They close about 1:00 PM. Bring cash as they do not take credit or debit cards. We had some new ops with us this time and gave them most of the operating time with help from the age challenged crowd. It was a good learning experience for all involved covering many areas of field operation to managing a small pile up occassionally while fighting off contest stations. Those of you that made contact with us I thank you for participating and hope you enjoyed the qso. We plan on returning next year as well. That will make 5 years running and hopefully we will get better each year.Last modified: 2012-04-22 04:39:00, 2260 bytes cached
