Photo: 2 el. Mini Beam

I have been a ham since 1965 and at that time being 13 years old was one of the youngest around. (Now I am 58 years old)

I operate predominantly on CW which I enjoy the most and sometimes SSB when my 8 year old daughter Alana is in the shack. (I hope she will be a ham one day too)

I am also proud to say I obtained my Extra Class license in 2006 and considering not coming from a technical or electronic background, that was a very important accomplishment for me.

Equipment run down:

Current station in use: Yaseu FT-950 (new rig for me as of July 2010)

Vintage station: Drake T4X, R4A, Heathkit SB220 (not running now), Hallicrafters TO Keyer. I ran the Drake Line exclusively up to July 2010. Also have a DX-60 and Globe VFO (my first rig from 1965)

Antennas:

160-30m: MFJ -2990 43 foot vertical, ground mounted with 44 radials and using a 200 foot chain link fence as a radial/counterpoise system.

20-6m: TGM MQ-26SR 2 el. Mini Beam up 25 feet on the house roof (photo shown above)

Both the above antennas are tuned with the MFJ 989D Versatuner V

Since my antenna system is not the best, I very much appreciate any DX contacts and good signal reports that come in. Thank you to those stations that 'strain their ears a bit' to pull me in.
