Licensed since 1972 with breaks in activity for various reasons. Currently back on the air with upgraded station equipment and hopefully for a long time.

Operating on the five major HF bands plus17m, 12m for now on SSB, CW, RTTY and PSK31. Computer operations have come a long way since I went QRT about ten years ago. It will take some time to get up to speed on new software and features. My primary station equipment is a Kenwood TS 990S and Alpha 9500 with a three element, tri-band yagi up about 55 ft, double bazooka antenna for 80 and an OCF 80m dipole at 45 ft. VHF and UHF via FT 8800R and Cushcraft A270 at 20 ft.  Back up equipment is FT5000MP, FT 1000MP and Alpha 78 amp. I also have the FT450D and Buddipole sets for portable operations.

Not much into contests or chasing certificates but do like working DX and ragchewing with DX stations. Also enjoy qso's with "local" stateside and Canadian stations.  Lately I have been enjoying working the W1AW centennial memorial stations and annual special event stations like the museum ships and 13 colonies.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to hear you on the air.

Station photos from June 2014

New primary rig is Kenwood TS 990S.  A real pleasure to operate.

My son at Toledo Bend Lake.  The flash on the camera really made the fish scales "light up" green.

60 lb amber jack 75 miles offshore

My last off shore fishing trip October 2012. 60lb amber jack caught 75 miles offshore.  We mostly go bass and crappie fishing close by in the Atchafalya Spillway (swamp).
