I was first licensed in 1958 as K(N)1KSG in Westbrook, ME. During my high school and college years I build many rigs from scratch and had plenty of space/big trees to construct antennas with good gain/low cost. I joined Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford, CT in 1966 and learned the dynamics of aircraft engines. Two more degrees followed. After that I spent most of my time working in the field addressing technical problems. I moved frequently and changed calls a lot. During the time I was living in San Antonio, TX, FCC allowed one to keep a call when moving so I kept WY5I. My station includes: Icom 7800, Icom 7200 (used for my beacon), Alpha 99, Palstar AT4K, 3 Element SteppIR at 55 ft, and a Super Loop 80 at 50 ft. I use an Electro Voice 635A Microphone and a DBX 286A Microphone Preamp/Processor. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 620 and I use Digipan/MMTTY for digital modes. I use a MFJ 495 Memory Keyer. I use Win-EQF for logging. I have been running a 10 meter, ten watt beacon on 28.2578 since 2001 and it has been heard on all continents. CU on the air. 73 Donn WY5I Last modified: 2012-05-17 20:58:44, 1133 bytes fetched
