I was born in Yorkshire England in 1937 and moved to NZ in 1964. Throughout all my adult life I have been in the radio communications field. During Army service as a radio operator I served in England, Germany, Cyprus, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia and South Vietnam. After my military service of 22 years I worked for the NZ Government also in the communications field. I retired from work in September 2002. My other interest is fly fishing for trout and have landed several rainbows in excess of 10lbs in weight from the "Tongariro River" just north of my location. Most days I check all the bands looking for those elusive african stations, although I have worked quiet a few they seem to be difficult for most NZ hams, an amplifier and a beam might help but I like a challenge.
My radio station is very modest (no amps or beams used)
Transceivers : Yaesu FT-450D, FT-757GX, Kenwood TS-450S, all run up to 100 watts.
Antennna : G5RV JUNIOR the best all band dipole I have ever used, hand made in USA by K4TR, worked 321 countries with it.
My other antenna is a HY-GAIN DX77 Vertical.
I do QSL 100% via bureau or direct when requested by return post.
NOTE : I DO NOT WORK ON 80M and DO NOT USE RTTY MODE ON ANY OF THE BANDS
