DXpedition to Santo Aleixo Isl. 6 to 8 th December, 2008

"Lightweight DXpedition"

The IOTA group SA-046 is formed basicly by two islands: Itamaraca Island (where almost of dxpeditions have be done) and Santo Aleixo Island where there was only one ever dxpedition in 1998.

This DXpedition is a part of a distintion proposal that will be sent to IOTA comitee. There are a lot of aspects that make Santo Aleixo an ellegible island for a new IOTA reference.

*** THE TEAM ***

This will be a lightweight DXpedition. The equipaments are:

- ICOM IC7000 + PS125 - ICOM 706 MK2G - 1/4 wavelenght vertical antennas to 20m & 30m

Operators: PY7DI, PY7PC, PY7RP

*** A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE ISLAND ***

Santo Aleixo Island is a larger island and one of the most offshore islands in the vicinity of Serrambi Beach, State of Pernambuco (PY7) - Brazil. The island is rocky, with little vegetation, and its sea-ward side is barren, and composited of large sand dunes. The south side consits of two hills, 22 to 25 meters high.

Santo Aleixo Island is the only island on the North East coast of Brazil that is totally surrounded by ocean.
