DOK Z02

As a teenager I was infected by the HAM virus by my father (Arno, DC0XV, sk). In the age of 18 (1982) I was licensed with the former German "C" licence which did not require any CW knowledge and only allowed to transmit on VHF and UHF bands (2 meters and up). Shortly later I learned CW and in 1983 I was fully licensed for all amateur radio bands (former German "B" licence). But my interests remained mainly in the 2m band.

After a while of no activity I started beeing QRV again in 2007. In the first time again only on 2 meters. Since I have only limited possibilities to build antennas at my home QTH I am mainly active with my portable equipment (FT-290R and HB9CV or FT817ND and dipole or MP-1 by Superantennas on shortwave bands).

I enjoy to participate to the SOTA (Summits On The Air) programme. Living at the north western edge of the Black Forest it is rather easy to find every weekend a different summit to be QRV on (unfortunately time does not allow so much activity ;-).

My other main interest is ARDF (Amateur Radio Direction Finding) which I also started again in 2007.

Since it was possible to install a small magnetic loopantenna at my home I am also active on the shortwave bands, mainly in digital modes (PSK31). Meanwhile I use an end-fed wire of 17m length. With a LDG Z-11Pro II auto tuner I can match it from 80 to 6 Meters - of course with low efficience on 80 Meters, but it works.

You will find much more information about me and my equipment on my web site: http://www.dl3bc.de .

Looking forward to hearing from you on the bands!
Thorsten
