Licensed in April 1955 as KN2RSR (Novice). I held the K2RSR call as a Technician, General, Advanced and Extra class licensee. In June 1960, I relocated with my job to Bermuda and operated as K2RSR/VP9 for two years after which I was assigned the call "VP9GR". In 1977 I returned to the U.S., Brunswick Maine and was assigned my present call K1GR. My interest in ham radio has been on an off through the years depending on global work assignments. I admire those old radios I owned throughout the years and regret selling, however I am overwhelmed by the amount of micro-processor, computer technology that has migrated to amateur radio. I am member of the PAPA System and operate VHF/UHF Digital Voice/Data. The PAPA SYSTEM supports 13 D-Star member linked repeaters for VHF/UHF and 1.2 GHz. on D-Star reflector 12. Worldwide D-Star communications access from repeaters at Santa Barbara to the North, to beyond the Tijuana Mexico border to the South.
