I was originally licensed as KB5FLL Novice in 1988. After a few years of inactivity, I let my license laspe. When I moved to St. Louis, MO for a new position a couple of Ham co-workers came to my office and wanted to know if the rumors that I was previously a ham were true. Once they found out that I was previously licensed there was no stopping the peer pressure to get back into the hobby. A few months of reading, studying and testing have brought me back into the active HAM category.

Recently, I have become interested in software defined radio and the HPSDR project. I enjoy building kits and learning more about the hobby through debugging. I was beginning to think that there was little room for experimentation in ham radio until I found the HPSDR project. I have also built a few SoftRock kits by Tony Parks. They are great fun and deliver impressive results.

My primary rig is an IC-756 Pro III with Heil Clear Speech Speaker, Heil headset with HC-5 element, RigBlaster PnP, B&W Folded dipole and 80m horizontal loop up 15m fed by SGC 237 Smartuner. I also run a pair of Yaesu 857Ds for additional HF and VHF contacts.

My vanity call sign comes from my alma mater Louisiana State University, home of the fighting tigers 2007 National Championship Football Team. Geaux Tigers!
