Ron is setting up his Collins station which consists of a KWM-2A (R/E) S/N 12,100-D - with the "break" feature and 516F-2 R/E. This KWM-2A was built in 1976 in Richardson Texas which was then Rockwell Collins. A Collins 75S-3B R/E S/N 30333 will be used as a companion receiver to the KWM-2A R/E. Included with the Collins station is a 30L-1 R/E amplifier, 312B-4 R/E station console, 312B-3 R/E speaker, and 302-3C RF power meter. Pictures will be placed on his website later this summer. Ron was first licensed January 7, 1963 as WN0ETV. He was living at Waynesville, Missouri at the time. Bill Bailey W0FNK (SK), who was a co-worker of Ron's father administered Ron the Novice examination in October of 1962. In April of 1963 Ron upgraded from a Novice license to a General class license and received WA0ETV as his call sign. (The picture posted in the upper right corner of this page is me in March of 1963 as WN0ETV at my station using a DX-20 on 40M CW). Ron's place of birth was Lebanon, Missouri. Ron relocated to the Saint Louis Missouri area in May of 2006 after living in Georgia for over 30 years. Ron served his country in military service as a U.S Army Infantry Officer "in country" in two wars; Vietnam War (101st ABN DIV) as a rifle platoon leader and Persian Gulf War Desert Shield/Desert Storm (7th CORPS) as a RAOC task force commander. Ron attended many military schools,received many training courses, and received specialized training in many areas while serving in the military. Two such areas were in radio communications and electronic warfare. Ron was certified by the U.S Army Radio Telephone technical school at 25 WPM morse code with 5 character groups of random alpha, numeric, and puncuation characters. (Ron's military bio can be found at his webpage; www.k4sx.com). Ron elected to retire from military service in September of 1996 with over 20 years of military service to his country. Ron's family has a long and rich military history. The Lowrance family military history can be found at www.k4sx.com along with the family tree going back to the original settlers to the US. Ron is currently employed with the IBM Company and has been since March, 1978. Ron began his career with IBM in the position as Customer Engineer responsible for the technical support and maintenance of large mainframe systems & attached I/O. Ron has successfully held several management positions while employed with IBM both in the US and overseas. Ron's current management position is Project Executive with executive level management and P&L responsibility for large IT/IS organization. Ron's formal education was conducted at the University of Missouri at Rolla & Columbia College for undergraduate studies, Troy University for graduate studies, and at the United States Army Infantry Officer Candidate School (OCS) at Ft. Benning Georgia School where he received his military officer commission. Upon receiving his officer commission, he was selected as one of the5 top graduates to remain as a TAC Officer in the 9th OCS Battalion. In addition to the above, Ron entered Freemasonry in 1972. Ron is currently a Master Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a York Rite Mason having completed all 3 sovereign Masonic Bodies of York Rite Freemasonry. Ron's father, Dean K0LDL, is retired from the federal government and lives at the Lake of the Ozark, Camdenton, Missouri. Dean is a WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers. Dean's military bio can be found on Ron's webpage listed below. Dean received his BA degree from Columbia College. In addition to these accomplishments, Dean is a Master Mason for over 50 years. Dean is also a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. Dean's Ham station consists of a Collins KWM-380, Yaseau FL-2100B amplifier, MN-2000, and a Fritzel FD4 OCF HF Dipole. Ron's mother, Carrol is retired from the Missouri education system. She has a BS from SMS and a MS from Drury College. Ron's brother, Ken K0KDL, is employed with AT&T as a Technical Solution Senior Architect. Ken is also a licensed registered Professional Engineer (PE) with multiple state certifications. Ken is currently living in St.Louis County, Missouri. Ken graduated from Washington University in St.Louis with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Ken is also a certified project management professional (PMP). Ken's station consists of a IC-756Pro3, IC-706MK2G, Tarheel Mobile antenna model 100HP, and a Fritzel FD4 OCF dipole. In addition to ham radio Ken is a licensed pilot and enjoys flying his twin-engine plane. Ken's wife also has her license, KD0JVM. Dr. Lynn Lowrance is retired from the St.Louis County School System. Ken's son Adam, KD0JVN, is currently enrolled in a doctorate programat the UNC, Greeley, CO.
