I was first licensed in 1969 as WN5YMV in Richardson Texas, where I shared a station with my father, W5EQ. I later got my general and advanced licenses and became WA5YMV. I spent a year in Cincinnati, Ohio as WB8HQD before I moved with my family to Irvine, California. There I was assigned WA6NGO, and my dad K6VO. I got my K6NR call in the "great call sign give-away of 1996" (the opening of the floodgates for vanity callsigns). My father passed away in 1999, and K6VO is now our family club callsign.

Currently, my main ham activities relate to a station I've setup in the desert at my brother's house. I've got a Force-12 C3E at 65', a 40 meter four square, a full-sized 80 meter vertical with 66 radials, an inverted-L for 160, and miscellaneous other transmit antennas. I also have north and east facing 300' beverages and K9AY loops as receiving antennas.

I am into contesting, and when I operate locally in the desert I use an Icom 756 Pro II and a AL-1200 or AL-572 amp. I also have a Kachina 505DSP for remote use of the station from my home in Irvine. Check out my web page for more information.
