I was first licensed in 1959 as WV6ICU. My cousin, K6DWY (ex: DL4EF), was the person that originally planted the seed after watching him work field day events in the very early 1950's in a tent in his backyard. I am a former member of the Ventura County Amateur Radio Club (CA) for ten years where I served in various positions including president. Currently I am a member of the Arizona Outlaws Contest Club, ARRL, QCWA and 10-X. My wife and I enjoy travelling with our Lance truck camper in which I use a Ten-Tec Scout on 20m & 40m operating in portable configuration when camping. We also do electronic gold prospecting using MineLab equipment and have fun with different firearms sports. My home station in Prescott, AZ is located about 95 miles South of the Grand Canyon in the Prescott National Forest at a elevation of 5500' in a small canyon on Butte Creek. It is a very modest station utilizing a Icom IC-737. Antenna is a 40m loop . I enjoy contesting on a small "pop gun" type scale and conributing points to the AOCC & working DX. It's still fun after all these years to break into a pileup using a little patience with 100 watts. I QSL the old fashion way, via mail. It's a very rewarding hobby which I am still proud to be involved in.
