Click for more detail... I am a high school teacher for the subject areas of chemistry, anatomy & physiology, environmental biology, and photography. I also enjoy genealogy, hunting, fishing, judo, and amateur radio. I love to spend time with my family, especially when we can be outdoors. My wife, Gina, still resists getting her license, but I'm working on her as well as my three daughters. The station here is quite simple. I have a Heathkit HW-101 and HW-12 that I don't have currently on the air. I usually am operating a Kenwood TS-440S into an HF9V vertical antenna that is ground-mounted in the back yard. I also have a flat top dipole at about thirty feet. I grew up mostly in Maine, thus the 1 call sign. I also lived in Taiwan for one year, teaching English as a second language. I learned to speak Mandarin while I was there, but since I returned to the USA in 1989, I have forgotten much of it. I am the sponsor of an amateur radio club (KD8EEA) at Great Lakes Adventist Academy in Cedar Lake, MI, and hope to have a good group of new hams by the end of the school year.
