I was first licenced in the very early fifties as K6GCZ. My first rig was a home brew forty-meter cw transmitter, using a 6AG7 crystal oscillator, which drove a 6L6G final into a long wire antenna. My receiver was a WWII surplus BC-348Q. After getting my General Class ticket, I then upgraded to a converted BC-375 transmitter, which operated on the 75 meter AM phone band. While serving in the armed forces, I had an opportunity to maintain some of the highest powered transmitters operating in European theaters at that time. This experience was pivotal in setting my life time goals and ambitions. Since then, I had been semi active over the years, due to the raising a large family, furthering my education and pursuing my career in the Aero Space Industry. Now that I’m fully retired, I have taken up once again my favorite hobby of amateur radio. Last modified: 2011-01-22 01:12:39, 896 bytes cached
