Originally licensed in 1972 as WN0LAE, upgraded to WB0LAE, moved to Illinois during the time that you had to change calls when you changed call areas and became WD9CQK. I entered the US Air Force in 1977 and kept that call sign until I returned from my first overseas duty in Germany. At that time I changed my permanent mailing address to my parents home in Iowa and applied for a new call and received N0FHL. I held this call until Sep 2, 2000. I upgraded my license in April of 2000 and in August, I applied for a vanity call related to my hometown of Cedar Falls Iowa, which is how I came up with K0CFI. Once I upgraded in 2006 to Extra, I applied for a 2x1 call which I now have. While in the military, I got a chance to operate from various locations throughout the world. In Germany I operated as DA2DE. In Korea when I had the chance I operated as HL9HF, and while in the Azores I operated as CU3/N0FHL (above picture from shack in Azores) until I received my reciprocal call of CU3LG. I retired out of the US Air Force in December of 1997 and worked as an electronics consultant for John Deere in the vehicle system team until May of 2000. There we worked on GPS guidance and tracking for farm implements. I currently work at the TLE section of the Waverly, IA Walmart. Last modified: 2011-02-24 22:22:16, 1335 bytes fetched
