Originally from Massachusetts, I have been a technician of one sort or another since college at Suffolk University, where I majored in Biology. First, I was a research tech in an infectious disease lab at Boston University Med. Ctr. After moving to Colorado, I became an Emergency Medical Technician, doing that for 17 years; 14 at The Children's Hospital in Denver, on the neonatal and pediatric transport team. Towards the end of that, I went to Denver Technical College for some electronics training, and then did photocopier tech work. From there I became a slot machine tech at a casino located in the foothills west of Denver. Now retired. First licensed in 1989 as KB0FCG. Now Extra class. Rigs in the shack are Kenwood TS-2000, TM-732A, and Alinco DR-235 MkIII, powered by an Astron RS-35M. Being an apartment dweller, the antennas are indoors. The HF is a 3 - wire dipole, cut for 10, 15 & 20 meters (which also works on 6 meter SSB, and 17 meters with an extender clipped onto the 15 meter wire, and 12 meters with an extender clipped to the 10 meter wire), fed with coax. The VHF is a 2-element Yagi, the UHF is a 3-element Yagi, a homemade 220 band groundplane, and a 6 meter Hamstick for repeaters. No amplifiers, given the location. 73, and I hope we meet on the air!
