Got a great US call sign of N3UD under the vanity call-sign program(ex-WE3NUD, WB3EUY) after upgrading to Extra Class the old fashioned way with CW required. Got a US Novice ham ticket first (WB3EUY) in 1976, and later was able to get Novice class WE3NUD, under the FCC vanity call sign program to match my VE3NUD Canadian call. So I have earned two top-level call signs in two different jurisdictions. I am pleased to say that as of May 9, 2003, the same day I got my new Extra Class N3UD call, my spouse Lynnette got her shiny new General Class (with CW also) call sign of W3GZZ(ex-KB3GZZ).
Those fine birds with me are 2 Solomon Island Eclectus parrots (Sally - red, Oliver - green). Our little feathered flock also includes a wonderful adopted male Moustache Parrot(Pete) who is about 6 in long with a 6 inch tail. Pete lives in the white cage on the right. When we got him he was a habitual feather plucker and hence too naked (and modest) to show himself on this family web site - hi hi. Like nail-biting for human kids, feather plucking can be hard to stop in 'fids', as bird owners often call their feathered kids!
That fancy real 'Vermont Teddy Bear' was a fine gift from some friends and many say 'bears' a visual resemblance to me. I do appreciate the good natured humor that it was given with to say the least! Nothing like friends you can share a hearty laugh with, even if some of them don't have a call sign (yet). It certainly confirms my feelings that good folks can be found in and out of our great ham radio hobby.
