Hello to all and tnx again for the QSO/contact!!

My physical address as referenced to my grid square (EM40rk) is:
24430 Panther Rd, Springfield, La. 70462 (No Mail ! package deliveries only!!)

"Please use my PO Box for qsling!!!"

Here are a "FEW" words about myself and my station and my preferences on QSLing!
I am an electronics technician of 35+ yrs. and do not profess to know it all. If I don't
know it, I research it or I find someone who does claim to "know it all", which I seem to
be doing a lot lately!

Bands I operate on!!!

SSB on 10m, 12m, 15m, 17m, 20m, 40m, 60m, 75-80m, 160m, 2m, 6m, 70cm,

I only operate phone/voice, so if you need my grid, county, state or country on another mode, I'm sorry !!!

Currently in-active on 70cm ATV

I am currently working on recompiling/updating my 10-X Chapters list!!! Hopefully, this year, I will get my 10-X membership renewed and start getting back into the paperchasing!!!

I will post this info on my QSL.NET webpage at: www.qsl.net/n5xes/index.htm

SELARC / Life member, ARRL - WAS # 49864 - 10m SSB, VUCC #1657 - 6m SSB, Ten-X # 62140 / VP # 2761,

SWoT # 3047, K.C. Grid Bandits # 141, SMIRK # 5748, South CARS # 8751, OMISS # 7147,

EchoLink Node : 456101, Air Force MARS - AFT4GY,

My station equipment is always in a state of upgrade as I acquire the occasional highly
needed item, or the very rare "just gotta' have it - no matter what" item!!!

Hamshack and Mobile equipment:

HF: Kenwood / TS-940S, Icom / IC-756Pro2, IC-706Mk2G, Ameritron / AL-811H,Dentron /MLA-2500, D&A / Phantom 500, Heathkit /SB-200, Avanti / Astroplane (10/11m), AV-140 Moonraker (10/11m), 528 ft. Delta Loop @ 50 ft., homebrewed 3 el.- 12m and 3 el.- 17m monobanders, Cushcraft / A3S, homebrewed 40m vert. dipole.

6 m: Midland /70-0351c, 70-375c, G.E. Mastr Exec., CushCraft / A-50s, Ar-6b Ringo Ranger.

2 m: Kenwood / TR9130 ,TS-700s, TR-751a, TK-760, Icom / IC-271H IC-260, Yaesu / FT-221, CushCraft / 215WB Boomer, AR2b Ringo Ranger II, A147-11, M2 - 2m5wl (x2).

2m/70cm: Icom / IC-3220H, Alinco / DR-570T,

70cm: Kenwood / TK-860, TK-830, Icom / IC-471, TE Systems / 4410g, CushCraft / A449-11 (x2), MSquare / 432-27.

Antennas:

Way to many, but my current HF antenna is a 528 ft. Delta loop, fed at the apex @ 50 ft. by a 50-600 ohm (12:1 balun) with the corners pointing toward the northeast and the southeast @30 ft. off the ground. This antenna willeventually undergo a conversion to a Double-Delta, resistor terminated Loop configuration, that we conjured up with while I was in the US Air Force and Air National Guard, for Rapid Deployment HF Communications. This antenna will require no tuner and will handle 2500 watts continuous keydown, 24/7 !!!

My primary antenna for 10m is a CB vertical, Avanti Astro-Plane, up 95 ft. in a pine tree. Currently it is out of service due to winds from Hurricane Gustav, but I have 3 more as back-ups. I do climb towers, but no longer "Gaff" the trees!!!

Antenna update: September 2011-Just added a 50+ yr. old, CushCraft A3S tri-bander, to my antenna farm. I stripped it down and replaced all the rotten hardware and reconfigured it for the PHONE portion of the bands. I used S.S. hardware with never-seize on the threads and "No-Alox" compound on all the mechanical joints so it should be good for twice as many years as it was before. It sits' on about 38 ft. of an old Tri-Ex crank-up tower (at least 40 yrs. old), that I recently refurbished (a Hurricane Katrina acquistion) and attached it to a home-brewed "Tilt-over" bracket that is anchored to a 4 inch pipe @ 8 ft. above the ground. Sorry, but I don't do Metric measurements!! I will try and post the pics to my QSL.net page but they will also be viewable on my "Antennas-Feedlines" Group at Yahoo!!!

February 2012 - Just put my homebrewed 12m and 17m - 3 el. yagis' back on the air! Only up @ 6 feet ad 9 feet above the ground on a single mast that is hand rotatable for now, but at least they work and I can now cut the grass under them !

I now have a 7 el. TET yagi(10, 15, 20 and 40m- quad bander????) that I want to bring back to life, if possible. I am in need of an assembly manual for it. I have all the parts for it so far. just have to replace 4 of the 2.5 cm insulators. At least they are still available from Emtron!!!

Also, I am looking for a "turns cheat sheet" for the Mosley traps. I have the one fromthier site, but it is mostly for maintenance . I have enough traps to make a 5 element tri-bander , but really want to rewind them for the WARC bands if possible, so a "turns cheat sheet" would be a plus!!!

Worked ' em ! !

*** QSL IS VIA BURO OR DIRECT, I WILL DO THE SAME, NO SASE REQUIRED!! ***

I am registered on eQSL, ClubLog and LoTW and I am still learning about all of them! All of my contacts are now uploaded to LoTW and eQSL and also ClubLog!! I do this as a courtesy, to those of you, who are heavy into electronic QSLing!!!

"The final courtesy of any QSO is to QSL, so PLEASE, BE COURTEOUS!!!!!"

I will be sending you my "TRADITIONAL" QSL Card, in return for your "TRADITIONAL" QSL Card , via which-ever route you prefer, BURO, MANAGER or DIRECT. I can also send SAE with coupon / IRC or an SASE. "GREENSTAMPS" can sometimes be a problem, as mostly, they never make it to the recipient intended, but I'll try it once!!

Getting back to eQSL, I cannot use eQSLs' for ARRL Awards, so "PLEASE", if I send you a Card, then kindly return the favor. If I can scrape up the postage on a meager budget, then I'm sure you can too, otherwise, you're in the wrong "HOBBY". I have been negligent, in the past few years on getting out QSLs' because of finances and do not intend to fall behind again, so if I owe you one from the past few years, rest assured, it's on the way!!!

"BUSTED CALLSIGNS"!!!!

At times, it is possible that we don't always copy callsigns correctly. Lately, I have recieved emails from a few "HAMS" , whose callsigns are similar to mine, and they have been kind enough to let me know that they have recieved a QSL for a QSO that they have not made. Mostly, they come through "eQSL" and at the very least, we have been able to work together to get the QSO with the busted callsign, corrected!! Please, consider the possibility that even "YOU", can get one wrong once in a while, as I am "WILLING" to admit to the occasional screw-up with "DISLEXIC" Ears and Fingers!!! Many thanks to the other Hams' out there whose callsign suffixes are "XE, XCS,ES, CS, XS.etc.etc.etc. We've all been there!!!!

I currently have DX-LAB on my main computer, but have been cringin' at the thought of interfacing my radios' and 'Puters together, but I guess it's "gonna'" have to happen, sooner than later! I'm not real keen on the KEYBOARD, hunt and peck is about as good as it gets for me, so, it will be a challenge to talk on the radio and try to type at the same time. Currently, I do all my qsl logging on logbook style scratch-pads that I made up,and I later transfer them to the REAL Logbooks for qsling.

Well, that's enough about me for a while, you're probably getting bored anyway or contemplating suicide for having read my "BIO".

Please, enjoy our HOBBY of Amateur Radio while you still can. The day may come when the "lobbyist" win and the politicians get to sell off the frequencies to give themselves the pay raise that they will never earn or deserve!!!

73 es gud DX !
