Click for more detail... I was first licensed as VE1IJ back in 1965, shortly after leaving the RCAF. In 1966, I moved to Ontario, where I obtained my current call. I have been married to my XYL, Barbara, for nearly 40 years and we are now firmly esconced in our new home on 2.5 acres. I am active on both VHF and HF, using several rigs. I have a Kenwood TS120S which is my backup radio to the TS520S. The 120 is also used as a portable rig for contests such as the Ontario QSO Party each April. In addition I have an FT101E which is primarily a backup to the backup, but also functions as a receiver on 30 meters using the WWV position on the bandswitch. For 30 I have a small QRP CW rig with about 50 MW output. On 10 meters I use the HR2510 all-mode 25W transceiver into a copper cactus style vertical. My other antennas are a 260 foot droopy dipole for 160, an inverted vee on 80, and separate dipoles for 40 and 20, with a common feeder. I am currently the Section Traffic Manager for Ontario Section, but have stepped down as Net Manager for the Ontario Phone Net, a position I had held for four years. Much of my on-air time is the spent handling NTS traffic which is an enjoyable and rewarding part of this great hobby of ours. I do however still enjoy an occasional CW ragchew when time permits.
