============================================================== -=VE7SCC THE COQUITLAM AMATEUR RADIO CLUB =- ==============================================================

The Coquitlam Amateur Radio Club (is a registered non-profit society. The club is located in the city of Vancouver, BC. More specifically we are located on the old Riverview Hospital Grounds along Lougheed Hiway in Coquitlam. Right next to the famous SPARC radio museum ( http://www3.telus.net/radiomuseum/ ).

At the club:

Courses: In the 2002/2003 year VE7SCC will be teaching a brand-new basic course utilizing the VE7BGK booklet. Inquire on our web-site.

Emergency Preparedness: As part of our ongoing contribution to the City of Coquitlam, our club is active in serving as a primary back-up role in the event of typical large scale disasters that result in the loss of standard communications.Further courses that will help members improve their operating skill under such conditions will be made available later this year.

Contesting / HF Operating: The Coquitlam Amateur Radio club is by far the most well equipped club station in the lower mainland. Members have access to a large Hi-Power multi/multi contest station that doubles as an amazing Single-Operator experience. Our new 40m beam is up and will temporarily replace the 8element 40m-10m KLM LOG. Members are encouraged to participate in contests as a way to develop HF proficiency.

Satellite: We are also equipped for 2m/70cm satellite work. A FT-736R drives 160w amplifiers that are feed into a variable polarizion array that yields 16dbi+ gain. The antenna can be steered by computer tracking software NOVA.

Packet Radio: We have a fully operational packet radio station that allows local communications with 2m nodes.

Repair / Test Shop: In order to keep the equipement in good repair, it occasionaly needs repair. To do so we have well equipped service center that can be used to repair most any problem with our equipement.

Projects: Members participate in the building of many homebrew projects. In last two years VE7ZNU had led several groups to complete a fully functional QRP station with QRP tuner and SWR/PWR meter. A replica of the MFJ 259 antenna analyzer was also built at a fraction of the original cost. Ongoing projects include a fully automatic 2KW antenna tuner.

Antenna-Projects: Continual antenna experimentation is an on-going process at VE7SCC. We are fortunate to be located on several acres of property that allows for some interesting wire arrays and other low band antennas.

Sound interesting? Want to learn more? PLEASE... feel free to visit the web-site. An on-line membership form is available on the web-site. If you wish to view the club in person, please refer to the contact information on the web-site.
