Volunteer amateur radio operators run this station every day to introduce amateur radio to the thousands of vistors who pass through the Science Center every month. If you would like to visit the station, we are located at 600 East Washington, Phoenix, Arizona. We are open every day of the year 10:00am - 5:00pm except on Thanksgiving and Christmas day.
With two independent operating positions, volunteers demonstrate HF and VHF/UHF bands using SSB, CW, FM, TTY, digital modes, plus ATV and SAT modes to visitors of all ages arriving as school groups on field trips, families, and foreign visitors to the Valley of the Sun. Young students learn to send their name in Morse Code and then enjoy a brief QSO on a local repeater, EchoLink, or other mode, leaving with a Guest Operator Certificate and literature on becoming an amateur radio operator. Please stop by to say hello and, if you have the opportunity, join us as a guest operator.
You can also visit our website at http://www.w7asc.orgwhere you will find more information regarding our station, its history, and how you can become a volunteer at the shack.
