We are now QRT. We operated on Ascension Island from 8 November 2011 and for two weeks until 21 November 2011, with operations conducted from the Garden Cottage, near the top of Green Mountain. I focused on RTTY, and my teammate, Tom ZD8ZZ provided the excellent CW complement. We both operated SSB at times, and Tom also operated 6M CW when we were notified the band was open. Our website with more information, pictures, and online log checking is at http://www.qsl.net/w6hgf/ZD8F-index.html The Pile-Ups were fantastic, and lasted almost all day long. We spent a lot of time up on 10 and 12 M as they were the most productive during the daylight hours. The last few days were spent with a lot of CQ's as we suspected we had worked everyone that was looking for ZD8. We had a little trouble with 17M because of the BBC world service transmitter just below us on the mountain, and transmitting with 250KW on a 17Mhz broadcast. My Dunestar filters could not deal with it, so our hours were limited on 17M. I had a very high noise level on 80 meters, atmospheric or fog noise was suspected. There were over 8000 QSO's made during this trip by ZD8F. All QSL cards received to date have been confirmed and sent back out. I have also activated OQRS with the log check on ClubLog if you prefer that method (http://www.clublog.org/charts/?c=ZD8F). Please send direct qsl card requests to the above address with self addressed envelope and $2. Bureau cards for ZD8F are VIA W6HGF. There is no ZD8 Bureau, so please do not try to send one there.
