The station is setup as a full coverage digital satellite station on 2m, 70cm
and 23cm, and will eventually turn into a complete dual satellite ground
station. It is fully auto-tracking and operated by Sangat, 9M2SS IARU Region 3
Director since 1987 and now retired since year 2000.
On the lower frequencies, a Force -12 and a home brew 6m yagi on a 7m boom is
in place. A 80/40m trap dipole. Also there is a HF Cushcraft vertical in use.
There is also a 137Mhz and 1600Mhz weather satellite receive station, with some
amazing poster size prints on display at the station. Also receiving HRPT
images.
Perched high on the hill overlooking the city of Kuala Lumpur, the views are
spectacular, including a number of lightning fried PL259's in the workshop.
The gear line-up is too great to mention, but when in Kuala Lumpur, its worth
visit. Entry is free and open to the public, however operating any of the
station transmitters in not.
Licensing for visiting hams is not straightforward, but the Malaysia Amateur
Transmitting Society (MARTS) do offer support here.
