(6/2008) I'm gettin more and more into this hobby it seems. I've just become
the ARRL New Hampshire section public information coordinator. Field day is
looming, so I've got work to do!
On the Air: You may work me from my mobile(706MkIIG)barefoot with hamsticks
during the commute or from home on the Kenwood TS940S + TL922A, Kenwood
TS-2000, or my newly refurbished SWAN 350. (Yes, I finally got my original
novice rig back on the air!) The antenna is a Carolina Windom 160, but I have
grand plans for a serious antenna. So far I have collected a STEPPIR 3ele, Ham
IV, and a 70 foot Hygain crank up tower.(all used) Non of it is up yet, but if
I can manage to sell some more stuff, maybe I can raise the funds to dig the
hole and poor the concrete and buy all of that cable!?!?
My favorite things: I mostly love to DX and ragchew, but due to family
commitments, I usually find myself making the short DX QSO these days.
As an ex-recording engineer, I'm particularly interested in all thing audio.
I've also brewed a couple of batches of home brew beer in the basement in honor
of our fine hobby. I posted the label that my brother designed for all to see
(he is talented isn't he!) This label even won honorable mention in a beer
label contest.
History and work: Bio I've been a ham since I was 16 years old... long before
the internet, and cell phones. I was styling with the phone patch as a 16 year
old. First to have a "phone" in my car, so to speak. I have a
bachelors degree in electronics, but it feels like I've forgotten just about
everything electronics wise I ever learned. Now my life is all about the
application side of computers. I work as a product manager for Russound. We do
high end distributed audio/video systems for the custom residential installer
market. Lately, I'm designing touch screen interfaces and distributed HDMI
systems.
I "was" DX once:
I lived overseas a number of years... First in the UK, where I had a reciprocal
call, and then in South Africa where my call was ZS6BNR.
Thanks for looking! 73, Doug
