My friends and family call me "Brad" after my father and grandfather
before me.
My interest in Ham Radio started when I was a young fellow around 1970. I had
built a "Hamshack" in my bedroom closet(enough room for one small
person, HiHi). The main focal point of my shack was my DX-150A Receiver
http://www.rigpix.com/rs-realistic/realistic_dx150a.htm . I would spend hours
upon hours listening to Amateur Radio Operators. I read everything I could find
about Amateur Radio and set forth to get my Novice License. I have had a keen
interest in electronics since grade school, so I guess it was a natural
progression. Well, trying to learn the code(from LP!) proved too much to keep
my attention with all of the distractions of the age! So, after a 30 year
pause, I decided that I would not leave old goals hanging over me and I
promptly dove back into the hobby achieving Extra Class within a year(I must
have remembered something!). I have enjoyed all aspects of Amateur Radio since
and continue to enjoy assembling and reconfiguring my "shack". I
really spend much more time listening than talking. I enjoy building and
restoring old gear and, otherwise, tinkering and improving. But, on occasion, I
will jump out there and prove my gear! I still enjoy the technical aspect of
Amateur Radio. Please check out my web page at
http://AE4BP.ham-radio-op.net/amateur_radio_ae4bp.htm. This modest little page
runs from my server right here in my shack.
I participate as a Director for the Columbia Amateur Radio Club and enjoy
working as a Volunteer Examiner.
***Lately, I have been playing with APRS. I have also been working on setting
up my weather station with live APRS weather data. I am also working on
incorporating this data into my web pages as time warrants. Currently, you can
get this data at http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/wxpage.cgi?ae4bp-4 and at
http://www.wunderground.com/stationmaps/gmap.asp?zip=29201&wmo=99999 Stay
tuned!
