I got started in this great hobby in 1978 and have been enjoying it non-stop
ever since. A 10-year stint in the Navy (1984-93) allowed me to operated from
some exotic locales and experience being the DX for a change.
Current interests in ham radio change with the season. In warmer months I enjoy
taking backpacking and camping trips with QRP equipment along. There are many
QRP transceivers available which pack remarkable performance into tiny
packages. See my website for technical details of these rigs and my outdoor
excursions with them.
In the winter, I devote most of my radio time to chasing DX. Just completed
5BDXCC, something I never thought I'd be able to do with 100 watts and 2
dipoles.
