Originally from England, Brian Carling was first licensed in 1968 as G3XLQ.
Started SWLing in about 1963 with an R1155 receiver from a World War Two era
Lancaster Bomber. The power supply was of course home made. The official RSGB
issued SWL callsign was A4941.
Operated briefly in Georgia as G3XLQ/W4 around 1968 -1970 from time to time.
Moving permanently to the States in 1972, Bry was inactive until 1975 when he
got back on the air as WB4FPH and later in 1978 was assigned the Amateur Extra
callsign AF4K.
Enjoys building homebrew rigs, restoring tube equipment, digital modes,
especially MT63. Still an active SWL and a regular CW and AM operator.
