------General Info/News: --Lookup Counter now, add 20 000 from external QRZ system reset 15. Oct. 07. It is incredible, but sad reality: Witnessed, frequent QRMing and Call Faking Terror against me and others. This includes badmouthing by faking DX-Cluster entries, misusing my call (e.g. 14.+ 12. May 09 http://www.dxsummit.fi/Search.aspx ). --Call sign (HB9CVQ) misused on HF, e.g. on 80m in RUDX CW Contest 16. March 08 early morning, by ruthless, suspected, long history, notorious QRMer. Several, partly simultaneously operated, remote controlled internet based amateur radio stations seem involved too in EU (e.g. often bearing from LX NW, from Munich SE) and even NA. In addition this guy sweeps the HAM Bands (and outside!!) with noise/carriers and is jamming the DX windows. This is mainly on 40/80/30m. Often rare DX is faked. For further info please check DX Cluster, e.g. http://www.ve3sun.com/ DX Monitor announcements or scroll down. There is, almost daily, malicious QSO Radio Stalking (CW,SSB) by the suspect to HB9CVQ and others. Recently in QSO (17.Jan 09, SSB, 3780.2MHz at 02:19Z) with PA3CRC, there was suspected evidence of simultaneously, faked retransmission of my call , with distorted modulation (splatter) of my signal about 20kHz below. My measurement with a spectrum analyzer, done right away, proved my TX and Amp. 100% ok. These are just two of many mean misuses. In CQ-M CW Contest (10./11. May 2009) HB9CVQ was over a long period of time bugged with an unusually high number of reissued dupes from my log. --Almost daily Pirating, Call Faking, e.g. HB9CVQ de W2AN http://www.qrz.com/detail/w2an "Bill" , CW, 3.521MHz, 0149Z, Jan/07/2009. Email + phone contact with Ed K2MP proved again faking! Investigations are ongoing internationally. Good things sometimes take very long time. --Since Sept. 2007 HB9CVQ no longer operates HB9Z - no QSLs please. I left that club after 25 years, unpleasant HAM Spirit there now. Almost nobody here cares about good CW activities anymore.
------History/present Activity: QRV since 1969 (DK2VQ) + HB9CVQ since 1983 (JN47EI) QRV from 160m to 10m, CW and in SSB. ------QSLing: Uploaded all logs (>90.000) under HB9CVQ to e-QSLs (Status AG) http://www.eqsl.cc/qslcard/Index.cfm and LOTW http://www.arrl.org/lotw/. Regarding QSL-Info, incl. HB0/HB9CVQ, DL/HB9CVQ and others, as well as Contests, my priority is always LOTW/eqsl + answering direct cards. QSO-UPLOAD normally at the end of each month. I am presently not really working on my "QSL via bureau" response anymore. Experience however showed this may typically take more than one year,if started prudently! The choice is yours.
------ Tnx. Anyway, enjoy DXing, Contesting and/or Rag Chewing, cu.-- ++Never the less Fairness and HAM-SPIRIT will prevail, No Question!++ ==================================================================== Lab Work Bench
Test Report Flex 5000C 14. Jan 2009 see eham http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/6627
(update 3/9/2009) The F5KC performed very well in ARRLCW DX 09 contest. The focus screen ( PowerSDR/Logging Program) problem in S&P mode logging will hopefully be solved soon. ====================== (updated 11. March 2009) The proposed fix with five ferrites on a longer ribbon cable works very well on all bands. Almost ( 60ms) QSK, using RX1, works ok, practically no hick-ups, but relay chatter acoustic noise. On using RX 2, there is still RF coupling (Rx2 only audio muting) , mostly from the 3 thin coax cables coming from the RFIO board. Ferrites will be installed here too soon. Additional improvement was made by grounding the external cable shields ( e.g. key, PTT) to the thin galvanized ground plane under the Flex and Power Supply. No ESD effects on touching the key anymore. After the grounding the cable shield goes through a CM cable choke and internally 100uH and 4.7nF per pin. Generally speaking , the EMI Chassis protection principle of Zoning (separation barrier in/outside) is broken by having RCA connectors, Key or Firewire not 360 deg. terminated to the conductive rear panel at cable entry. The connectors are grounded on the inside of the Flex for easy manufacturing, unsuitable for EMC. Work on the thermal contest issues: presently solved by taking off the side covers of the chassis and using an external fan , blowing into the CPU compartment. Accoustic noise will have to be reduced here too in the future. ====================== (update April 2009) Ferrite loading of the thin coax cables from the RFIO board (RX1, RX2) further reduced coupling. The fact that RX2 is only audio muted requires more experiments, sniffing for uncontrolled RF internally in the Flex on the board to board cabling. The Rx BC Ghost stations effect (spurious) mainly on 17 and to some extent on 40m is temporarily solved by using individual band pass filters ( http://www.iceradioproducts.com/filtersrf.html#2 ) on ant 2 and 3 input. Ant 1 remains unfiltered. Here, depending on the selectivity of the antenna used, this effect can be demonstrated. An automated filter band pass selection version is under consideration. =========================================================================
