Biography Info:

K1FDH, Rudy Morris was N8FDH until 4/98.

Originally licensed as a novice in 1958 in Arkansas, my WN5 call was only good for one year. You had to upgrade in one year or you were out! Not having money for a transmitter, I couldn't get on the air, so lost interest and time for the hobby.

My father-in-law was W5HQA, Charlie Traylor(SK) from New Orleans. He kept my interest in Ham Radio over the years. In 1983, some hams at work started up a nite class for Ham Radio, so I enrolled and became KA8SQF as a Tech Plus. Soon converted to N8FDH which I held from late 1983 till 1998, mostly in Ohio.

Became very active in Central Ohio ARES program and enjoyed the public service aspects of the hobby very much. I was the EC for W. Rockingham county in New Hampshire from 1994 to 1999 and was active with the State OEM and RACES.

My wife and I retired (early) in July, 1999 and hit the road in Sept. 1999 as full time RVrs. Our current address is a mail forwarding service in Sioux Falls, SD who sends our mail to where ever we are currently located. We do monitor our email, so you can contact us at EMAIL: morrisrc@att.net

The Vanity call program got me interested in switching calls since a lot of 'ole timers' think N calls are all 'no coders' and also 'no good', It is a shame that a lot of new hams get lumped into a 'newbee' catagory and assumed to be inferior operators!

We need to encourage and work with new hams to help them become quality operators and sustain the hobby in a professional manner.
