I have been a ham since 1992, while on active duty with the Navy in Texas. My
first call was KB5UBW, and my elmer was Glenn Miller/AA5PK. When I moved to
Hawaii in 1994 I became WH6YC. I retired from the Navy in 1996 and moved to
western Washington, where I began my second career as a school teacher. I
taught technology classes for seven years at Pe Ell Schools, and completed my
certificate for school administration during the 2002-2003. During the 2003
summer I moved to the Spokane, Washington area, where I have always wanted to
live, work, and play. It took a full year to find the right job as Security
Director for the Medical Lake Schools, on the west plains of Spokane. My
primary interest in ham radio has been APRS, and I continue to devote time
toward that effort as the Northwest APRS Lead Coordinator. Our group home page
is http://www.nwaprs.info. For community service I enjoy serving as a reserve
police officer with Medical Lake Police Department. My other hobbies include
model trains (N-scale) and golf. As a single dad, I'm raising my four children:
Jennifer, Peter, Alex, and Chris. They are the primary reason why I enjoy life
so much, and my ham radio friends follow at a close second.
