K7RFW is located on the western edge of the Wasatch Mountains, a LONG ridge of rock four miles to the east rising another 4000 feet above the 4800 feet we already have, and we are located about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah. Because of restricted space, I had been operating portable using a Buddipole and FT897D on weekends when there is time and the weather permits. Recently I put up a 130 foot horizontal semi-delta loop (two sides are shorter than the third) that is about 20-25 feet high which allows me to operate whenever I feel like it. With the MFJ Intellituner at the end of the twin lead, I can now easily work most bands from 80-10 meters by changing the confiuration of the tuner input. I use a battery for most of my ops since my power supply is only 5 amps and that is a bit less than the radio wants. On HF I enjoy doing special events, contests, and just plain rag chewing on SSB and digimodes (SignaLink USB). I also enjoy doing mini expeditions to Antelope Island (US Islands UT001L and UT010L) when time, finances, and weather permit. QSLs are welcome (my card is not a pretty picture one, but a simple color laserjet version) either direct or via the buro, however due to the XYL controlling the stamps a SASE envelope would be appreciated to help promote marital harmony. I also post on ARRL LoTW and eQSL.CC for those who need those postings. 73 Last modified: Fri Mar 27 15:08:37 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content? If so, Report this page... |
