Have been a ham since my sophomore year in high school (1978), CW nut from day
one! My first rig was a Swan 260, which I still have and use today. Also on my
bench is a Yaesu FT 757gx, Hallicrafters Twins (ht44 and sx117), Kenwood TS
520, and a Ten Tec 1320 QRP rig. For CW paraphernelia I use a Bencher paddle to
a Heathkit SA 5010 keyer (built in high school), an Original Vibroplex bug, A
Deluxe Vibroplex bug, a Lionel J-38 straight key, and a Ham Key. My first year
of CW was on the Ham Key! (UPDATE: I NOW USE THE LOGIKEY K5 KEYER, I BOUGHT THE
BASIC KIT FOR 58 BUCKS AND BUILT IT INTO AN OLD AB SWITCH CASE, BEST KEYER I'VE
EVER USED!)
Started out as KA7BNM, upgraded to Extra in 1987 and became WY7W, and just
recently got the vanity call of K7TPD, which are my initials and is much easier
on the tongue! Looking forward to upcoming sunspot cycle, currently enjoy
working DX on 40 and 20 and checking into the 3905 cw nets. Hope to hear you
again, 73. Tom
