On-line "Blog" on things Amateur Radio - "With Varying Frequency
- Amateur Radio Ponderings" at: http://k9zw.wordpress.com/
Licensed since 1989, I am currently focusing on DX & Education.
Recently finished my first DXCC and working on filling out more bands and
modes.
Active in our local club "Mancorad" ( http://www.w9dk.com/ ), North
East Wisconsin DX Club (NEWDXA) and the Washington Island DX Club (WI9DX)
PODXS Member #432, Feld Hell Club #169 and Member #14 of the former Global
Friends Digital Club.
ARRL VE, Emcomm I, II & III instructor, and ARRL CCE instructor / mentor /
examiner.
Home QTH Station is presently undergoing a significant antenna and facility
upgrade with the plans of having a better DX station. The new tower & antennas
are up & in operation. The shack has a fair bit of new gear in place.
Currently operating with a TenTec Jupiter & Alpha-78, or for digital a TenTec
Pegasus, to either a Tennadyne T-8 Log Periodic, W9INN 1/2 Sloper or Gap Titan
DX vertical antenna.
As of Nov 2008 I have started working a Flex-Radio Flex-5000a Software Defined
Radio (SDR) in addition to the TenTec rigs.
Have several other rigs and antennas in place as the station is being revamped.
The picture above is from a revised, but not final, station layout. (More
details on the shack improvement project are posted on my personal website).
Several times a year I help activate Washington Island (Wisconsin - US Island
WI-100L) on SSB and with digtal modes. The W9EVT/WI9DX Shack can be seen at

With the W9DK Mancorad Club I'm enjoying working with our newest Amateurs and
Youth as Club Elmering Coordinator, one of the club's instructors, as 2008
Mancorad W9DK Board Member, and as a VE.
Have had the good fortune of being able to do some operation as M/KB9GPN/P and
MM/KB9GPN/M. Hoping to work the other end of DX as travel allows.
Very much enjoy all the great people I've met through Amateur Radio!!
