I was first licensed in 1994 during the no-code rush!  Years go by and now all license classes are no-code, so i decided it was time to upgrade.  I had tried to learn the code and never really got that far with it before loosing interest each time.

While waiting for that final notice after we found out the code requirement was going away i took my General and held onto the CSCE, before that expired the code requirement was removed once and for all and i took my Extra.  Shortly after i became an ARRL VE and i now help bring new members into the hobby!  Its a very satisfying thing for me to see someone get their upgrade or their first license, even after 15 years of being a ham myself now!

I love to build, i'm not what you would call an appliance operator, though i do have some commercially made gear, i'm always looking for something i can build as an accessory, improve my current radios, or take on a totally custom project all together.  If you have time visit my website and have a look, i'm always working on something new!

I have the most fun being active on 6m/2m SSB.  Though you can find me on PSK or SSTV on 20m some days as well, the digital modes are fun!!  I also check into some HF nets from time to time but don't count on hearing me there as i'm usually off somewhere else on the band.  The funny thing is CW was my biggest stumbling block to getting licensed, and now that i have those priviledges i find myself using CW, albeit on the computer, but i have managed to learn and retain some letters, i think over time i might actually be able to decode most of what i hear but there is no pressure to learn it anymore, possibly the largest reason for me learning some of it now!

You can also hear me on the local repeaters.

Locally i operate a UHF repeater, an APRS Digipeater and IGate, weather webcam which loads to my webpage, and weather data is also available on APRS and CWOP.  I try to keep myself active!
