I've been a ham since 1993 when some colleagues, K4QL and K4HA, at my then
employer, Bell Northern Research (Nortel’s R&D division), goaded me into
studying for the exams. I am glad they did as this is a great hobby. I have
spent a lot of time (and money) along the way.
An amateur radio license is a license to experiment with communications and
communications technology, which is first class entertainment for me. I get on
the air occasionally to fool around in this very diverse hobby with digital and
analog modes, contests, DXing, rag chews, nets etc.
I have a small but nicely equipped radio station and enjoy using it when time
permits.
