City Florida June 1975. Graduate of University of Hartford, West Hartford,
Connecticut. Awarded Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Theatre June 1979.
Graduate of Defense Information School, Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana 1984.
Basic Broadcaster Course, Electronic Journalism Course in residence. Basic
Journalist Course by correspondence in 1987. Earned Certificate in Information
Systems Management from University of Southern California - European Campus
June 1991. Awarded Asssociate of Science in Computer Network Administration,
Okaloosa-Walton Community College, May 1998. Worked as broadcast journalist,
news reporter, radio announcer, and feature producer for Air Force European
Broadcasting Squadron and American Forces Network - Europe in Turkey, Spain,
Germany, and The Netherlands 1984-1994. Community Affairs NCO, 22d Air
Refueling WIng 1987-1988. Special Public Affairs Projects NCO, 16th Special
Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field, Florida 1994-1996. Retired from U.S. Air Force
in 1996. Worked briefly for WYZB and WFTW radio, Ft. Walton Beach, Florida
Married to Laura Ray (nee Martin) since November 10,1988. Two sons, two
daughters, three grandsons. Own small business with wife specializing in mobile
pet grooming and pet care. Member of North Okaloosa Amateur Radio Club. Amateur
interests include digital modes, APRS, emergency communications. Member
Okaloosa County Community Emergency Response Team. Volunteer Storm Spotter for
National Weather Service Office, Mobile, Alabama. Equipment includes Yaesu
FT-100D 40 meters and above, Yaesu FT-7800D 440/2 meters installed in mobile
unit, Yaesu FT-897D, MFJ Morse Code Keyer/Reader, LDG antenna switch and tuner,
G5RV, Tram 2 meter/440 vertical, MFJ 1775 40 meter and above rotatable dipole.
Macintosh computers handle logging and rig control. Other interests include
computers. geneology, travel and camping, web design, blogging and writing for
local media.
