Click for more detail... Greetings from Tom, N4NSP & Libby, W4ELK... Photo is of my wife, Libby, and our camping cat, Gamby Roberts, on a rainy, winter weekend at Cabin 32 at Westmoreland State Park (WSP) on the Lower Tidal Potomac west of Montross, VA. (GPS: N38d 10', W76d 52') We enjoy spending a long weekend at an available cabin and operate HF portable. Enjoy checking in on ECARS, Va Fone Net, and in the evenings listening to CHWO, AM 740 "All Time Favorites" in Toronto. Listen to shortwave stations and to Internet streaming audio, including CFRX on 6070 KHz, the 1000-watt shortwave transmitter that carries the programming of CFRB 1010 AM in Toronto, and the CBC North on 9625 KHz. Use several 2-band and 3-band QRP Hy-Power Antennas with great success, covering 20 to 160 meters both at home and while camping. Have a TenTec Scout 555 (50 watts) with the "Jones" filter/noise blanker for operating HF when camping. In the Newport News area, we talk on 146.580 MHz with a PL tone. Also a medic, EMT-Enhanced, with Gloucester County VFRS www.gvfrs.org and member of York County CERT. Use the Comprehensive, Guide I, and Mountain Medic II Adventure Medical Kits. Completed Advanced Provider ITLS course, Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) course, and numerous on-line FEMA courses. 73s, Tom G., N4NSP Va Fone Net #40, ECARS #4273, Skywarn Spotter ID #VNNS133 Last modified: Thu Jul 2 17:01:16 2009 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
