I have been continuously licensed since 1981. I am active on HF phone, CW, PSK
and two-meter FM. My original Novice callsign was KA7KIP. I have also held
DA1AM and DA1GL callsigns while working as a civilian for the U.S. Army in
Germany in the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. My wife, Ruth holds the callsign
KA7VNR. In my teens in the early 1960s I was a member of Popular Electronics
Magazine shortwave listeners’ club. I was assigned the ID of WPE7CKG and I
still have the certificate they sent me more than 40 years ago. The magazine is
now defunct.
We are members of the St. John Valley Amateur Radio Assn. and the ARRL. Our QTH
is Grand Isle, Maine, which is on the US and Canada border and has a population
of ca. 500 people. From our window we can overlook New Brunswick Canada.
I QSL 100% via bureau, direct or eQSL, no return postage is required for
direct.
