My interest in amateur radio began in fourth grade when I saw my first amateur
radio station and got to speak over the air with a ham hundreds of miles away.
First licensed in 1966 as WN0LHR I quickly fell in love with working DX. My
college funds were diverted to purchase Collins S-Line equipment with a 30L-1
linear amp and with my tower and tri-band beam near the peak of the sunspot
cycle I was sure life couldn't get much better ... especially when I was able
to buy a new Corvette convertible in 1967.
My present ham equipment consists of a Icom IC-756PROII transceiver, Heil
Goldline microphone, PalStar AT1500CV antenna tuner, Ameritron AL-80B
amplifier, microHam DigiKeyer interface to my HP m9250f quad core running MixW
for digital modes with LOGic 8 and TRX-Manager, a 10-band MFJ-1798 vertical
antenna and a Isotron antenna for 80m. I have a Icom IC-208H for mobile use and
a Icom IC-91AD handheld for VHF/UHF.
Licenses: Extra Class ham license / commercial General Class Radiotelephone
License.
I'm a Communications Response Team Special Deputy with the Hennepin County
Sheriff's Mobile Amateur Radio Corps (MARC).
