Biography Info:

First licensed in 1962, I got my start from Ed, W0JBT, who was a great mentor.

I started with a Heathkit receiver and a DX-60, which I still have. My neighbor, Jim, W0PCT, got me going on DXing and introduced me to towers, quads, and up-to-date equipment.

During college, I had the opportunity to operate our college club station, W1ET, in Hanover,NH and learned first hand how much easier it was to work DX from the east coast instead of Minnesota.

Taking time off to get married and start a family, I resumed operating in 1975 and put up a 56ft tower and quad at my new location in MN. At that time, I met Steve, K0SR, who got me interested in contesting. Since 1976, we have been working together designing and building antennas, stations, and working contests.

Current antennas include homebrew 160m vertical dipole, 80m phased verticals, 3 el 40 yagi, 5 el 20m yagis, 6 el 15m yagis, 7 el 10m yagis, and listening arrays. Rigs are SO2R Elecraft K3 with Alpha amps.

After 45 years of amateur radio, finally confirmed my last country for top of Honor Roll DXCC.

The fish is a 49in muskie that I caught (and released) on a flyrod in July of 2005 in northern Wisconsin. The lure was yellow, green, and white epoxy head streamer fly tied by my son. My brother-in-law (on my right) helped me land the fish.
