I was first licensed as WN5JGV in 1954 and started my on the air career with a
homebrew 6L6 transmitter and an 80 meter crystal. My receiver was a then
brand-new Hallicrafters S-53A. Both of these are long gone. I wish I'd have
kept them!
Following service in the USAF, I went into electronics full-time. I have been
an AM-TV Broadcast engineer since 1964 and am still active in the field.
My operating activities include working HF from the home station, 10 meter and
HF/VHF/UHF mobile. I am participating in the ARRL's experimental 600 Meter
project, as WD2XSH/7. (See http://500kc.com) Previously, I was operational on
166.5 KHz as WC2XSR/13 from my previous QTH in Jefferson, Louisiana from a
small city lot. (See http://w5jgv.com)
I enjoy experimenting with antennas of all types, from LF through microwave. I
collect interesting electronic junque, and have WAY too much of it! (Well, at
least according to my wife, Bonnie, KB5YSE, who has become used to a stray rig
or two hidden under the dining room table.)
Now that we're getting settled into our new QTH in Natchitoches, Louisiana, I
hope I'll have more time for experimenting and on the air operating.
