First licenced in 1960 as KN4VBT in Charlottesville, VA. Moved
to Alexandria, VA later that year and upgraded to General as
K4VBT. Got Advanced at a hamfest in GA in 1970. Moved to Irving,
TX in 1973, where FCC changed my callsign to W5VSI. Moved to
present QTH in 1977, after FCC callsign/area rules were changed,
so I kept the current call.
Active in CO ARES District 22 as AEC for training and CO ARES HF
NM & OES. Member of Edge of Space Sciences (www.eoss.org) since
1991, presently serve as President. Member of Navy-Marine Corps
MARS as NNN0RPM since 1996. Ham interests include 10 GHz, HF
digital, ARES, and high altitude ballooning.
Retired from full time career in medical electronics design and
standards developent/confomance in 1999 to make more time for
hamming, but still keep wolf away from the door thru consulting.
