You can read more about my ham life at http://wa5znu.org and see my ham weblog at http://wa5znu.org/log . On HF I operate an Elecraft K3 at home, or portable with a KX1 CW on 80/40/30/20. I also a Yaesu FT-817 and K5OOR HFpacker amplifier (see http://hfprojectsyahoo.org) at 35-50 Watts with an Elecraft T1. Sometimes I go QRO with my Drake TR-4C from N5LK. For PSK-31, I use fldigi from W1HKJ http://w1hkj.com/ on Fedora Linux or znudigi and RPSK software (see http://wa5znu.org/2008/znudigi-rpsk) using software I wrote. I check my signal quality with PSKMeter with my own Linux software (see http://wa5znu.org/pskmeter ) though lately I have been using AA6E's version. At home, my antenna is a 3el+30/40 SteppIR up 12 meters or a low loop. When I am out hfpacking, I use a Buddipole, a Pac-12 portable vertical or wires in the trees. On the back burner I am in the process of restoring a Heathkit HW-16 (like my original novice rig) and HG-10B VFO (though I had a VF-1 when I upgraded to Technician). On VHF and UHF I use a Yaesu V2-XR or a TH-F6A. I am working with others to build a new XML-based ham logging format called XDIF; read about it at http://xdif.org and look for XDIF Interchange and XDIF Import/Export features in your favorite logger. I got my novice WN5ZNU in 1969 in McComb, MS at age 7, about a year after my father WA5UBQ (now N5LK) got his Novice. I upgraded to Technician in 1971, and Advanced after that, and upgraded to Extra just before my birthday 2004. Last modified: Sat Nov 22 18:27:41 2008 Does this page contain inappropriate content?
