Dr. Ronald W. Johnson WB4GWA Professor: Mercer University Atlanta, Georgia
I was first licensed in 1967 as a Novice. I learned the code on an old paper
tape Instructograph. I received my General class before my Novice expired, then
went on to college and grad school. After graduation I lived in Nashville,
Tennessee where I took my Advanced class. When I moved back to Georgia in 1979,
I got even more active and then took my Extra. I am proud to say that I know
and still use the code. There is something to be proud of when you know your
Extra (20 WPM) was earned!
My main interest is homebrewing and vintage AM. I am also callsign trustee of
W4AMI which is the Concord Amateur Radio Society. We help sponsor the AMI
Southeastern Radio Swap Net on 3885 each Tuesday evening. I also maintain the
local club repeaters on 145.250 and 443.400 with a PL of 110.9. We also have a
presence on Echolink.
