Well , my name is Carlus Melvin, Randy, Chavis,I had to stick Randy in there
its a nick name and it is what I am called.I got my call back in 1970 and will
never change it, not to many wb4's left out there.
My station consists of a Yaesu FT-920,Yaesu FT-847,Yaesu FT-1000MP, Yaesu
FT-736r,TE system amps on 2/6/432/222
Collins KWM-2A,312B4. Antennas,TH7DXX,A3WS,D40,617b,17B2,K1FO 432..and dipoles.
I live in West Columbia,S.C. I have lived here most of my life. The only other
place I have lived was Vietnam for 3 years for uncle sam. US Army 523 Signal in
Chu Lia and the 196 Inf. in Da Nag. Years were 69-72. I help run a MARS station
there and had a lot of fun running phone patches for the men ..
I am married to a wonderful woman, She has to be to put up with this ham stuff,
for 34 years. We have a son 21,Brad, who is now in the military and a daughter
32 Mandy. I am now a GRANDPA 2 TIMES a girl Lauren and a boy Brayton.
My hobbies are of course ham radio,fishing,hunting,and old cars. I like to go
to hamfest and see what new and old stuff that I cannot live without..
I enjoy hf, over 300 countries confurmed on hf, I have really gotten the bug on
these bands..6 meters, 2 and 222,432 ssb. I really enjoy working on antennas so
I have a antenna farm to play with but always need more.I like to play with
different radio's.
Well i guess that tells you something about me. Hope to catch you on the bands
sometime or maybe at a hamfest...
